In the last 150 years of its inception, Groz-Beckert, a Germany based company has developed from being purely a manufacturer of knitting and hosiery machine needles into the most important system supplier of precision components in the field of textiles and beyond. Step by step, the company has branched out into the business sectors of sewing machine needles, felting and structuring needles and gauge parts tufting – complemented most recently by the important sector of Weaving Machine Parts and Knitting Cylinders.
For the Bangalore market, Groz-Beckert promoted its special application needle, SAN 6 GEBEDUR which is specially developed for sewing of denim clothing. It has received a positive feedback from the industry as it helps in avoiding needle breakage, skip stitches and thread breakage.
The titanium nitride coating on the needle protects the fabric from damages and the special shape of the RG-point further helps in this regard. The conical blade and the newly designed scarf cross-section gives the needle a higher bending resistance of 20 – 40% in comparison to the standard needle. The needle has a lateral looper chamfer at the scarf which protects the looper point from damages. Because of all these changes in the geometry and design of the needle, it provides a number of advantages for sewing jeans over the standard needles.
Starting with the benefit of high productivity due to less machine downtime, reduced production costs, high security against skip stitches, less needle consumption, reduced machine load to the advantage of high protection against wear, this needle is the perfect solution for the jeans market of Bangalore.
“Since the last 15 years, when we started marketing in India, we have captured a large customer base which is constantly expanding. There is a segment in India which is still using very low price needles, but they need to compare the price with the operating cost and they will realize that Groz Beckert is not only cost-effective but also gives quality,” S. Kanwal, Manager Marketing, Groz Beckert averred.
Rajesh Bihani of Rajasthan International, the Indian agent of Groz Beckert, shared similar views on the subject, “We have to convince the manufacturers on the quality which is a lot easier with big exporters but now even the smaller units are realizing the true value in our products.”
