The computerised knitting manufacturing giant, Shima Sheiki has joined hands the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Media Lab as an association lab member.
With this partnership, the Japan-based company is looking to explore next-generation technology to open up new possibilities in the garment segment in the near future.
Notably, the apparel manufacturing industry is going through a lot of changes in the market because of the trends that are not based on traditional values and the uncertainty over the constantly changing global economy.
Shima Seiki is the leader in knitting industry and with its association with MIT Media Lab, the company will look to introduce more advanced manufacturing technologies to the industry in the coming time, with a motto: “Ever Onward”.
The company already has its established innovations available in the market; be it the Wholegarment series or SDS-ONE APEX3 3D design system. It offers complete solutions for the apparel supply chain from planning to production and sales support.
Additionally, a full range of knitting machines, cutting machines and inkjet printing machines are also offered by the company. It will be interesting to see how Shima Seiki will utilise its collaboration with MIT Media Lab to develop even more advanced solutions for the garment sector.
