Size Stream, a US-based body scanning and measurement company, is coming up with ‘Size Stream@Home’ a mobile-based application that will scan and display the body in 3D using photogrammetry (the art and science of making measurements through photographs).
The novelty is a patent-pending application that will allow the customers to track change in their body shape and thus order custom-fit clothing based on their exact measurement.
The mobile 3D scanning process simply requires the users to put a scan suit and have someone walk around them with the phone application open. The app uses integrated measurement tracking for waist, seat, thighs, arms and Size Stream’s body FATTM % (Formulas of Adipose Tissue). The information gathered can be utilised to track fitness programme and order custom-fit garment through the app.
Size Stream has also launched a kickstarter campaign that provides a chance to secure a custom-made shirt or trouser based on the body scans of the campaign supporters.
Size Stream, headquartered in North Carolina, is a wholly owned subsidiary of TAL Group, a global manufacturing giant producing more than 50m garments annually. It has been developing the 3D body scanning and measurement technology since 2012, with its 3D scanner booths being used around the world in theme parks, apparel stores, fitness centres and military bases.
