Vietnam is witnessing industry expansion beyond Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, the two very important apparel hubs of the nation. Apart, some prominent cities in the country like Hai Phong, Hải Dương and Thái Bình too are attracting various apparel groups – both big and small, mainly owing to their logistics facilities. Some industry experts, whom Team AO met, are also confident that two recent developments – both in direct relation to Vietnam, like the FTA with the EU; and the trade uncertainties, as Trump continues on his path to stop China, will impact business in the country.

“Continuous training leads to quality empowerment, and utilising the right person for the right job improves both quality and productivity and which the customers want,” believes Vince Vu, Regional Country Manager of Eddie Bauer when talking to AO. This about 100-year-old company, is a pioneering retail brand, manufacturing in Vietnam for last 25 years and associated with 14 factories each in the twin cities of Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi.

Shima Seiki, the knitting technology pioneer, is growing steadily in Vietnam and in last 2½ years has seen good growth with the support of a local agent that services the Vietnamese companies. The company has also launched its new portal ‘Shima Online’ and providing web-based services.
