Our last issue of Apparel Online (Oct. 16-31, 2016) had presented a live discussion on ‘offshore’ manufacturing…, with exporters shifting their manufacturing bases to other states as offered by the local Government. Now with the growing apparel retail market the world over – expected to be US $ 300 billion and projected to reach US $ 400 billion by 2020 – entrepreneurs are ‘re-shoring’ their manufacturing units, thus creating more growth opportunities. Of late there has been a significant rise in the number of manufacturing units cropping up in the US which is drawing attention to the development; the first Chinese company already making its entry to the USA. Similarly, there are many other companies thriving overseas… Is this direction a trend or a movement…, Team AOexplores. The magazine also gives vast coverage to the recently concluded 5th India International Silk Fair (IISF) Delhi, organized by the Indian Silk Export Promotion Council (ISEPC). The fair witnessed large visitation from small but good number of buyers and fashion designers from non-traditional markets also. The issue also reports on two other events – the 42nd edition of India Handicraft and Gift Fair (IHGF) Autumn 2016, organized by EPCH (Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts) – a perfect platform to see new developments of various Indian home furnishing exporters. The other is the 12th edition of ICAHT-2016 conference organized by OGTC and themed Innovate, Integrate, and Motivate, raising some pertinent questions towards the middle- and top-level management present at the event. Besides the above, our regular columns of Mind Tree, Fashion Trends, H2F, Industry Wire, Resource Centre, Export Statistics, etc. make the issue worth reading.
