Women’s lingerie brand ‘Clovia’ has made a mark in the Indian lingerie market by opening 12 EBOs and over 50 MBOs across India. The brand with US $ 4 billion lingerie market is expected to be US $ 8 billion by 2020 and aims to open 75 offline stores across the country in next 2 years. Besides, doing extensive research, using smart technology and big data analytics, the brand has become a customer favourite, reveals Pankaj Vermani, Founder and CEO, Clovia to Apparel Online exclusively.

Amidst the worldwide trade turmoil, especially after the Brexit and the US-China trade war, a significant trade agreement took place between the European Union and Vietnam, popularly called the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA). It is believed that this FTA will eliminate 99 per cent of tariffs, although some will be cut over a 10-year period and will also help to generate jobs (overall) for about 1,46,000 people per year. Looking at the international scenario, the impact will be huge on the already struggling Indian exporters, not forgetting the fact that EU is India’s big core market.

The recent budget for 2019-20, presented by India’s Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, has disappointed the apparel manufacturers as there is nothing special in it for them, though trade bodies have welcomed this budget.
