With a history of more than 160 years, the German pioneer in manufacturing needles for knitting, sewing, tufting and non woven industry, Groz-Beckert, has always leveraged its global expertise in needle manufacturing to the advantage of the Indian industry, since inception of its operations in India in 1961. The company has two needle manufacturing plants in Chandigarh where it also has its Indian subsidiary Groz-Beckert Asia’s headquarters.
“With the industry on the path of certain growth, we have also been doing well, as we have increased our reach in the market in anticipation of the growth,” explains Shashi Kanwal, DGM (Sales) – Sewing Machine Parts. Groz-Beckert has established regional offices in Thane, Gurgaon, and also upgraded their branch office in Tirupur to a regional office to get closer to customers and serve them better.
Talking about the recent developments at Groz-Beckert for servicing sewing industry better, Shashi Kanwal adds, “As a company, we are now focusing on the sewing high fives of Supply, Solutions, Service, Superiority and Sustainability. Following the same, we have also improved the packaging of our needles and now every individual needle package has a Data Matrix Code which can be scanned using any smart phone and also verify the originality of a needle.”
SAN 10 XS needles enables higher output of apparels made of ultra-fine fabrics as now sewing can be done with least downtime as you face fewer needle breakages and skipped stitches.
Groz-Beckert has not only expanded its reach in various hubs across the country but has also started moving up the value chain by offering an advanced range of needles for knitting and sewing, which enable fabric and apparel manufacturers to reach a greater epitome of quality while maintaining low downtime. Launched couple of years back, the Litespeed knitting needles from Groz-Beckert have received tremendous response from the industry due to the 20% energy savings these needles offer longer service life higher machine speeds and therefore higher productivity.
In the sewing segment, the SAN and GEBEDUR have been the best performing range of sewing needles, to which the company has added needles with loop control technology and the SAN 10 XS needle for sewing ultrafine fabrics. “The loop control technology has been specifically developed to work with textured sewing threads and reduce the issues of skipped stitches, thread breakages, uneven seams, non-uniform loop formation and material damage,” explains Shashi Kanwal. The new loop control geometry of the needle results in accurate needle contour with optimized rounding at the edges of the groove that protect the sewing thread as well as fabric. The rounding significantly reduces the notching effect, making the needle less susceptible to breakage.
On similar lines, Groz-Beckert has developed the SAN 10 XS needles. Due to special design these needles do not damage ultrafine and delicate fabrics. “Introduced last year, SAN 10 XS has a very niche application and people have already started using the same,” shared Shashi Kanwal. SAN 10 XS needles enables higher output of apparels made of ultra-fine fabrics as now sewing can be done with least downtime as you face fewer needle breakages and skipped stitches, with higher seam quality.
