Apparel Made-ups and Home Furnishing Sector Skill Council (AMHSSC) has opened its Centre of Excellence (COE) at Delhi. The COE will run 2 to 3 days’ Management Development Programs (MDPs) towards upskilling of supervisors and managerial teams of apparel industry. In order to meet the specific needs of the industry, AMHSSC is planning to establish 5 to 6 more such centres at various locations across India.
AMHSSC was formulated by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) and National Skill Development Council (NSDC) to develop skills repository for apparel value chain, national occupational standards in the industry.
The council is also creating awareness about COE and for the same it organised an industry meet too. The meet highlighted the benefits of this COE and showcased the state-of-the-art machines including multi-head computerised embroidery machine, spreader, autoCAD, end-cutter and CNC cutting machine. On this occasion Nidhi Trehan, Additional Director-Quality and Standards, AMHSSC, Atul Madan, Additional Director, OT and Vipul Wahal, Head of COE, Delhi were present.
Dr. Roopak Vashishtha, CEO, AMHSSC, informed,” We have already trained 9 Lakh candidates till now and 4 lakh candidates are undergoing training. We are planning upskilling of industry workers, supervisors and middle level managers through this COE. I congratulate the whole team of AMHSSC for making such an excellent infrastructure with top of the line equipment.”
