Owing to the ‘social-distancing’ concept as suggested by world health experts so as to stop the Coronavirus from spreading, fashion industry is also doing its part.
The industry is avoiding every activity that would involve mass gathering. For example, the resort shows of Prada, Chanel, Max Mara and Gucci amongst others have been cancelled or postponed.
And the latest to enter the gang is Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia which was set to celebrate its 25th year!
The show, initially scheduled for 11-15 May 2020, will now not go ahead in 2020 as the corona apocalypse takes the dig.
The statement issued by IMG read “Due to the Australian Health Protection Principal Committee (AHPPC)’s mandate against holding non-essential, organised public gatherings of more than 500 people in light of global health concerns regarding COVID-19 (Coronavirus), we regret to share that Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia 2020 will not take place.”
