A preliminary schedule for the Autumn/Winter 2019 edition of New York Fashion Week was revealed by the Council of Fashion Designers of America, shedding light on the brands that will not be presenting their collection on the NY runways this season.
Rodarte, which is moving to Los Angeles, Pyer Moss, Escada were the most notable absentees along with Victoria Beckham, who would not be returning to NYFW after celebrating the brand’s tenth anniversary in the London Fashion Week.
The tenth anniversary celebrations for Victoria Beckham were made memorable by revolving the show and a mash-up of her brand’s highlights show around Piccadilly Circus, in conjugation with their popular anniversary product capsule and events for customers held at the Dover Street store.
After staging its first New York show in September for the label’s 70th anniversary, the big brand returning to the schedule is Longchamp. Another newcomer is the Milanese streetwear label Palm Angels that owes its fame to Instagram.
This is the first edition of NYFW that will witness men’s and women’s shows running successively one after another with Tom Ford completing eradicating the gap with a co-ed show.
To be showcased on February 6, the show will conclude the three-day men’s-specific schedule at 8pm. Seeing the progressive rate the Menswear industry is growing with, the men’s presentations will benefit from the union as they usually don’t receive the same air time as the women’s collections.
