Amsterdam’s digital fashion house, The Fabricant, has announced to send a piece from their reimagined DEEP collection to the moon. The project primarily targets art and space education, harnessing the metaverse as a platform.
Partnering with Bernard Foing, a former chief scientist at the European Space Agency (ESA) with 17 years of expertise, the initiative aims to establish the MoonMars Museum. Foing, known for contributing to a year-long project on the International Space Station, proposed the concept of transporting art to the moon within a gallery-style setting. Set for launch in August 2024, the museum will showcase the artwork as part of this exceptional exhibition. As part of the project’s mission, evidence of the artwork’s lunar presence will be linked to an NFT contract, slated closer to the launch.
The Fabricant intends to craft three distinct versions of the artwork: a moon version, an interstellar version, and an earth version. This approach symbolises the fusion between cosmic and earthly realms, marking a significant stride in utilising digital fashion and art to bridge diverse facets of human experience.
Collectors of the DEEP collection gain access to exclusive visuals and augmented reality wearables. The DEEP collection, available for purchase, includes AR face filters, epitomising The Fabricant’s commitment to digital fashion as a domain for adaptation.
