UBM Fashion, organizer of world famous fashion tradeshows, has added an all new seasonal show to its umbrella, titled ‘[Pre]Coterie.
The new fair will host its first addition from June 10-12 at New York’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. The collections on display will comprise of everything in the women’s premium apparel and accessories segment that include cruise collections, global women’s labels, fine jewellery plus swim and active lines.
The show will witness participation of over 200 brands and will act as a place for them to unveil their lines before the larger segment of the global buying season kicks off with the Milan and Paris fashion shows in late June.
The show also boasts of a direct-to-consumer shopping area; a vintage section where dealers curating one-of-a-kind pieces will take up space like Iris Apfel’s archive, Lulu’s Vintage Lovelies, Kitschtopia, among others; an ‘Edit’ space which will focus on higher end collections like luxe knitwear and occasion wear from brands like Piazza Sempione and Amanda Wakeley; and ‘Grey’, a dedicated division for the young contemporary category, with brands like Free People and BB Dakota.
Apart from this, separate representative sections for beauty and apothecary brands, accessory labels as well as swim and resort brands have also been charted out.
Mike Alic, MD, UBM Fashion further elaborated, “Many fashion brands will be activating their New York showrooms during this time period. [Pre]Coterie also runs during the same market period as the CFDA Fashion Awards and The Accessories Council ACE Awards. New York’s fashion industry will certainly be going full speed with [Pre]Coterie at its centre.”
The plans to launch this fair were announced in late 2017 as part of a bigger endeavour towards restructuring the schedule of trade fairs in New York.
In addition to the announcement of a ‘pre’show, now titled [Pre]Coterie, UBM had also mentioned plans to launch a gender non-specific show (called PROJECT) in July and Jan 2018, while axing its Intermezzo show.
