London’s up-and-coming designer Richard Quinn, who established his namesake label in 2016, has announced a new collaboration with an old partner.
The partnership is with the 143-year-old department store Liberty London, with which Quinn had previously collaborated in 2017, for his graduate collection at Central St. Martins.
Now, the designer has worked on an exclusive limited edition range of jubilantly printed accessories that will comprise of tote bags, purses, cardholders and scarves.
To facilitate this collaboration, Liberty gave the British designer complete access to their storied archive of over 45,000 prints. From this, Quinn picked out specific patterns of Hydra, Dahlia, Carline, Ellen, Daisy and Phlox florals from the ‘60s, ‘70s and the ‘90s, reworking them in his own style.
Speaking of his long standing partnership with the store and the new collection, Quinn said, “Liberty has been part of setting textile and print trends throughout history, so it was a great opportunity to find undiscovered prints that have not been reworked by the house, and to bring our different styles together.”
Additionally, Quinn has facsimiled a new logo for Liberty in his own handwriting for the 30 piece assortment that is all set to launch in the store and online on July 9. The prices will range somewhere from £ 70 for a printed scarf to approximately £ 700 for a signature Marlborough printed tote.
Amelia Hornblow, Director of Product, Liberty said, “His use of colour and texture captures the Liberty spirit.”
Hornbrow also hinted that this was not their last alliance with Quinn and a bigger, wider range of products might be in the pipeline.
Quinn shot to fame when he staged his presentation inside the department store, last season. Queen Elizabeth attended the show and after getting impressed by his work, even presented him with the Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design, the very first to be bestowed on a local fashion talent!
