
A workshop on ‘Flame Retardant Standards in Technical Textiles’ is being organized by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), will take place on September 1, 2015 in New Delhi. With the theme of ‘Collaborating for a fire-safe India – The Role of Technical Textiles’ for the inaugural session, the key speakers at the event will be from BUS, Flame Retardants Association of India (FRAI), and Northern India Textile Research Association (NITRA). Issues like the role of technical chemical textiles in fire-prevention, India becoming a supplier to the world, mandating higher standards and overcoming the implementation challenge through closer coordinating, and liability issues pertaining to the flame retardant order will be addressed at the discussion.
