Copying designs of fellow manufacturers has been one of the oldest problems in Indian textile industry, which increases during various sourcing shows where everyone displays their collections to attract the visiting buyers.
The problem continues in virtual fair too as one can see in the ongoing EPCH’s IHGF-Delhi fair too.
On the first day of the show, it was brought to the knowledge of EPCH that some of the participants are violating the terms and conditions of the participation and visiting the booths of other participants, copying or downloading the catalogues which is not allowed.
“On the complaint of the concerned participants, legal notices have been issued to 31 participants who have not abided by the rules,” informed Rakesh Kumar, DG, EPCH. He told Apparel Resources that none of them was an apparel exporter but belonged to home décor export.
All this took place despite the fact that EPCH had set up certain rules, term conditions and protocol to be adhered by the member participants.
“In cyber world, we have record of everything so to tap such activities is comparatively easy compared to physical fairs. The only feasible solution of such issues is that exporters should use ethical practices and we are inculcating them for the same,” he added.
The 49th edition of IHGF-Delhi fair virtual is scheduled to take place from 13 to 18 July 2020. Looking at the size of participants and visitation of large number of buyers from across the globe, the fair has been extended for a day and it will continue till 19 July.
