Messe Frankfurt has announced to get back to business and organise trade fairs right after its 780th anniversary on 11 July.
The world has been severely impacted by the pandemic in 2020 which had put a hold on business activities, especially trade fairs. However, Messe Frankfurt will now kick off with Intertextile Shenzhen Apparel Fabrics exhibition in China which is scheduled to be held on 15 July 2020.
It’s worth mentioning here that trade fair is a significant part of a vast network of around 50 globally renowned textile events organised by Messe Frankfurt’, with a recent addition of Frankfurt Fashion Week.
Not just China, Messe Frankfurt is also resuming business exhibitions in Germany in strict compliance with an aggressive and extensive protection as well as hygiene concept. The company informed that some small-scale events are already underway to be held on the Frankfurt’s exhibition venues, while the big ones will join them soon.
The Germany-based company has already announced the replacement/postponement dates in 2020 for many of the postponed events the world over.
Commenting on the development, Wolfgang Marzin, President and CEO, Messe Frankfurt said that the importance of trade fairs is rigorously felt during past 780 years which have demonstrated time and again that trade fairs promote economic recovery during crisis times.
“We are delighted that our events will once again be serving as platforms for personal interaction. The resumption of our event operations mirrors the flexibility of Messe Frankfurt in order to respond to challenges,” shared Marzin.
It’s worth recalling here that Emperor Frederick II had granted trade fair rights to Frankfurt am Main on 11 July in 1240 which marked the birth of Messe Frankfurt. Over the centuries, the company has evolved as a global player from merely a medieval marketplace and has trumped various crises to become successful.
Peter Feldmann, Mayor, Frankfurt am Main and Chairman, Messe Frankfurt Supervisory Board, commented “From these beginning, Messe Frankfurt evolved into the world’s largest operating trade fair company. It remains true to the tradition of internationality and tradition of trade even 780 successful years.”
