A workshop aimed at advancing green technology to boost the competitiveness and sustainability of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) was conducted at Madikonda Textile Park on 13th August 2024. This event, part of the SIDBI Cluster Intervention Programme (CIP), gathered key stakeholders to tackle challenges faced by MSMEs, especially within Warangal’s Power Loom Cluster.
Smriti Bajpai, Assistant General Manager of SIDBI in New Delhi, underscored the critical role of collaboration in nurturing the growth of MSME clusters. She stressed the need to enhance the Business Development Service provider network and ecosystem, especially within Warangal’s Power Loom Cluster. Bajpai reaffirmed SIDBI’s dedication to cluster development and highlighted the importance of working closely with stakeholders to develop sustainable, sector-specific strategies.
The workshop focused on addressing the unique challenges experienced by MSMEs within clusters, with an emphasis on capacity building, knowledge sharing, energy efficiency, credit access, and technology adoption. The Power Loom Cluster in Warangal was identified as a major area for intervention.
Prof. V. Padmanand, Partner at Grant Thornton Bharat LLP, presented the programme’s goals and conceived interventions for the Power Loom Cluster. He outlined many best practices, such as creating a raw material bank, advancing design development, providing skill training, implementing LEAN practices, facilitating buyer-seller meetings, and adopting green technology.
Kakatiya Textile Weavers Welfare Association Leaders, comprising President V. Sri Ramulu and Secretary D. Ranga Swamy, called on attendees to support the weavers with power grants and other benefits.
Warangal MP Kadiyam Kavya and Wardhannapet MLA K.R. Nagaraju assured the weavers that their issues would be thoroughly discussed with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy in an upcoming meeting.
The workshop was a joint initiative by the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI), Kakatiya Textile Weavers Association and Grant Thornton Bharat LLP.
