The third edition of GMMSA (Garments Machinery Manufacturers & Suppliers Association)Expo has raised curtains in Ludhiana – the knitwear hub of India. The event is focussed on knitting(circular as well as flat)technology used in garment manufacturing.
On Day 1 of the exhibition, Apparel Resources observed top technology solution providers demonstrating their potential with the latest innovations, to capitalise on the opportunities in the city.
Technology giants such as Stoll, IIGM, HCA, Magnum Resources, Ramsons, INA Systems, Aeon Commercial India, Grafica, Epson and Narinder International are present at the 4-day exhibition. However, despite it being a ‘Sunday’ and the presence of big players, the show witnessed a slow start and limited visitation.
A few of the big-level garment exporters including MiniKing Knitwears visited the show. Alongside, middle-level firms, in good numbers, from Ludhiana as well as other parts of India such as Delhi-NCR visited the show. One such company was Noida-based high-end knitted garment manufacturer Katbro Corporation. Talking to Apparel Resources on Day1 of GMMSA 2018, Chandra Bhan Kataria, Founder & Director of the company, shared, “The current market situation is stable and my business is on the right track, thereby, I am planning to add some knitting machines to the existing knitting division and that’s why I am here at the show.”
Another firm Pruthi International, which works with overseas as well as renowned Indian brands, was also spotted exploring the garment technology expo. Sanjay Kumar, Merchandiser at the company, told us: “We hope to expand with some good-quality knitting technology and GMMSA is the best platform for that.”
Interestingly, tech solution providers are expecting a good business here as Ludhiana is continuously improving and moving towards automation. Manpreet Singh Walia, Country Manager, INA Systems – a respected company in hanger system – shared that a lot of installations are expected in Ludhiana in the near future as the manufacturers are now becoming pro to using technology and the recent transformation in the city’s industry is an evidence of that.
Day 1 of the fair also witnessed the launch of cylinder bed top and bottom cover stitch machine by HCA. The company has presented this technology for the first time in this market, seeing the potential it has. The tech giant is also showcasing its ‘Kansai Special’ at the show. However, Bhavya Anand, Business Developer at HCA, who is although excited about the market opportunities, expressed his displeasure over the footfall: “I am not satisfied with the kind of visitation I have seen on the first day that too on Sunday.”
Day 2 of GMMSA is expected to note a comparatively better footfall. Stay tuned for updates only on apparelresources.com.
