Another major textile and apparel technology exhibition gets rescheduled!
ITMA ASIA + CITME 2020 will now take place from 12 to 16 June 2021, which was previously going to happen this year from 15 to 18 October.
The venue of the show remains unchanged which is National Exhibition and Convention Centre (NECC), Shanghai, China.
Due to coronavirus pandemic, the industry is reluctant to travel and the postponement was felt a necessary step by the show owners – CEMATEX, the Sub-Council of Textile Industry, China Textile Machinery Association (CTMA), CCPIT (CCPIT-Tex) and China Exhibition Centre Group Corporation (CIEC).
Fritz P. Mayer, President of CEMATEX, commented, “We seek your understanding as this decision has been made with the safety and health concerns of our participants and partners in mind.”
On one hand, the pandemic outbreak has made a significant dent on the businesses worldwide, the International Monetary Fund (IMF), on the other hand, has come up with a positive note and it predicts that global economic growth of the world will be around 5.80 per cent in 2021.
Therefore, the show organisers felt it is more prudent to postpone the exhibition in the middle of the next year.
Despite the pandemic, entire show space in NECC was reserved at the time of application dates closure showing a strong response from the exhibitors.Wang Shutian, Honorary President, CTMA, endorsed the reason of postponement and added, “Coronavirus outspread has impacted global economy severely and has made a dent in manufacturing industry as well. Our exhibitors, especially those from countries other than China, are affected due to imposed lockdown. Hence, we believe that the new dates of this combined show are suitable as the global economy is predicted to improve by that time.”
It’s worth mentioning here that the previous edition of ITMA ASIA + CITME in 2018 marked a sturdy presence of 1,733 exhibitors from 28 countries. Visitation was over 100,000 from 116 countries and regions.
