
Aimed at building business tie-ups as well as pursue possibilities of long-term venture alliances, a two-day exhibition on Indian textile titled ‘Intexpo Bangladesh 2016’, has commenced in Dhaka today.
A total of 30 leading Indian manufacturing/exporting companies are displaying their latest range of textile items such as suiting, shirting, dress materials, embroidered fabrics, high-fashion fabrics, furnishings, home textiles, stoles, shawls, laces, synthetic and blended yarns, fibres, garments, etc., at the event organised by the Synthetic and Rayon Textiles Export Promotion Council (SRTEPC) of India in association with the High Commission of India, Dhaka.

Addressing a press conference in Dhaka prior to the opening of the expo, SRTEPC Vice-Chairman Srinarain Aggarwal dwelt on the details and motive behind organising this two-day event.
It may be mentioned here that India supplies a wide range of high-quality items both in small and large volumes at affordable prices globally and counts Bangladesh, Germany, UK, Italy, Belgium, UAE, USA, Turkey, Brazil and Egypt amongst the leading markets for its synthetic textiles.

In the last five years, exports of synthetic and blended textiles from India to Bangladesh reached a staggering US $ 338 million in 2014-15 from 2010-11’s figure of US $ 137 million.
