Parisian luxury leather merchandise maker Longchamp is all set to commemorate 70 years in the fashion business with a slew of events. The brand is going to host its first fashion show ever, at the upcoming New York Fashion Week.
The show, set to be held on Sep 8 at an undisclosed location, not just celebrates its anniversary but also significant year of growth in the United States specifically. However, the historic brand is not forgetting its roots and will be hosting a parallel experience in Paris at the Opéra Garnier three days later.
Sophie Delafontaine, Artistic Director of Longchamp explains, “We felt that this was the right time to take things to the next level and to set out our vision of the dynamic, cosmopolitan Longchamp woman.”
Though Longchamp is most revered for its bags, the brand has gradually expanded to offering a complete ready-to-wear as well since 2012. On being enquired if the fashion show will be a regular outing for the brand, Delafontaine simply added, “Longchamp has always acted on intuition and we’ll continue to act on our intuition as we make decisions for future seasons.”
The event demarcates Longchamp’s bigger push into the American market as was indicated by its recently opened flagship store on New York’s celebrated Fifth Avenue as well as commissioning social media-loved Kendall Jenner from America’s beloved Kardashian clan as its latest brand ambassador.
In addition to this, Longchamp has also broadcasted that its first Los Angeles flagship is going to open this fall.
