The Autumn-Winter 2020 edition of Lotus Make-up India Fashion Week in association with EbixCash, by the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), stands postponed owing to the Coronavirus threat in India and around the globe.
Extending its concern to the people affected by the COVID-19, FDCI released the decision via social media last evening, citing the safety and well-being of the fraternity and guests for the upcoming LMIFW, as its top priority.
Taking stock of the situation in real-time by avoiding attendees become a part of crowded spaces, FDCI follows in line with one of the immediate public advisory issued by health experts globally.
“I would like to reiterate that the LMIFW had to be postponed keeping the safety of thousands of people, who were involved and not just guests but also team members, buyers and partners in mind. Due to the growing incidents reported globally, it would only be prudent to keep an event of this magnitude on hold.” Sunil Sethi, Chairman of FDCI, said in an official statement.
Scheduled to take place from 11-15 March 2020, at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Lodhi Road, in New Delhi, LMIFW Autumn Winter 2020 has been shelved to a future date, yet to be announced until further directives from the Government of India.
This season of LMIFW will host 23 runway shows overall and over 80 designers participating via shows and exhibition stalls including Indian fashion designers such as Rohit Bal, Shantanu and Nikhil, Suneet Varma, Namrata Joshipura, Rohit Kamra, Bobo Calcutta, among many others.
The theme for the A/W 2020 season is #FashionWearsArt. The event also follows up with its tradition of the Pearl Portfolio and FDCI Designer Stockroom – which is open to public, on the last day of the fashion week.
