In June 2023, the United Kingdom imported approximately 17 million pairs of socks, stockings, and various other types of women’s hosiery – as revealed in a recent report by IndexBox.
This marked a significant increase of 6.70 per cent compared to the preceding month May. In terms of monetary value, women’s hosiery imports in June 2023 amounted to US $ 52 million, according to IndexBox estimates.
Throughout the review period, the import trends displayed a relatively stable pattern. The most notable surge in import rates occurred in May 2023 when imports surged by a remarkable 39 per cent on a month-to-month basis.
The highest point in imports was observed in November 2022 with a total of 24 million pairs. Nevertheless, from December 2022 to June 2023, imports remained at a lower level.
The most substantial growth in value was noted in May 2023 with a 23 per cent increase on a month-to-month basis. The peak in imports, in terms of value, was recorded at US $ 71 million in November 2022.
