Trading between Bangladesh and India through the Benapole Land Port has been disrupted once again after an indefinite strike has been called by the workers of Petrapole Port on the Indian side owing to which import-export activities have come to a halt since 31 January.
Media reports maintained this citing the General Secretary of Indian Petrapole C&F Agent Staff Welfare Association Karthik Chandra Chakraborty.
Speaking to the media Karthik Chandra Chakraborty, reportedly, underlined the strike has been called to protest various harassments by the LP manager at Petrapole Port even as he added, “…we are already in business trouble due to the pandemic. In addition, the new LP manager is harassing traders by enforcing new rules at entry points.”
It may be mentioned here a few days back transporters had also called a strike, which disrupted trade between the two countries as well.
