
Workers in Bangladesh garment industry are expected to get their festival (Eid) bonus by June 16. This has been announced by Bangladesh Garment Manufactures and Exporters Association (BGMEA).
“The workers will get their bonus by 20th Ramadan, which falls on June 16, and we will launch our monitoring cell as in the previous year to avert any untoward incidents,” reportedly said BGMEA Vice President Mohammed Nasir, who further added, “The wages for the month of June will be paid in consultation with the workers and owners.”

It is pertinent to mention here that trade union leaders had urged the owners as well as the Government to take measures to pay wages and festival allowances before 20th Ramadan so that 44 lakh workers can enjoy the biggest religious festival with their relatives.
