Minister of State (Independent Charge) Textiles Santosh Kumar Gangwar conducted a meeting to take stock of the current cotton situation and Minimum Support Price (MSP) operations. Minister directed Cotton Corporation of India to ensure that online payments are made to farmers’ bank account as envisaged under Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, additional centres to be opened immediately wherever required and MSP operations be monitored closely on a daily basis. Gangwar stressed on the need to boost exports of cotton and explore new regions for exporting cotton and devise other measures for the purpose of promoting export. Secretary (Textile) S.K. Panda and CMD of Cotton Corporation of India B.K. Mishra also attended the meeting.
