The export and import of goods between Bangladesh and India through Benapole land port has been hit since 5 March on account of an indefinite strike called by several port organisations.
Media reports maintained this even as interacting with the pressmen, President of the Benapole C&F Agents Association Mofizur Rahman Sajan, reportedly, underlined the strike was called to protest related harassment issues even if a joint meeting of Benapole C&F Agents Association, C&F Staff Association and Transport Owners Association was held recently demanding suspension of the license of C&F agent and withdrawal of harassment case.
Meanwhile, reports suggested, due to the strike, hundreds of cargo-laden trucks have been stranded in the port areas of the two countries even if speaking to the media, Commissioner of Benapole Customs, Azizur Rahman, reportedly, said they will discuss with port users to keep the port operational.
