What if the industry gets to know that there are products which fared well during January-September ’20 in world’s largest apparel market USA?
According to an analysis done by Team Apparel Resources using OTEXA figures, one product that hasn’t fallen in its export values for four countries is brassieres at a time when USA has declined in its import of the same product, indicating these four destinations have positioned firmly in brassieres manufacturing.
Brassieres import of USA has dropped by 21.80 per cent in Jan.-Sep. ’20 to US $ 1.38 billion.
South East Asian countries Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand, as well as South Asian country Bangladesh have remained positive in their respective brassieres exports to USA in the first 9 months of 2020.
Vietnam shipped brassieres to USA worth US $ 254.12 million during the period, growing 9.75 per cent on Y-o-Y basis. While, Thailand accounted for US $ 92.47 million with a Y-o-Y surge of 25.81 per cent, Cambodia upped by 20.25 per cent, clocking US $ 27.92 million.
Bangladesh has again proved to be a growing manufacturing hub for lingerie items and the same has been resonated in the statistics.
The contribution of Bangladesh in total import value of USA was US $ 84.50 million in Jan.-Sep. ’20, which is 12.33 per cent more than what Bangladesh earned in the corresponding period of 2019.
