The Foreign Minister of Bangladesh has credited the efforts of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina towards helping the country regain around 40 per cent of the garment orders that have been cancelled by buyers from various nations, consequent to the breakout of the coronavirus pandemic.
As per media reports, Dr. AK Abdul Momen made this observation on Tuesday while inaugurating an event in capital Dhaka.
Throwing open the month-long art exhibition titled ‘Art Against Corona’ at Shilpokola Academy, the Foreign Minister underlined, “Our Honourable Prime Minister talked to her counterparts of different countries so that they don’t break our export supply chain.”
As per reports, Bangladesh’s readymade garment manufacturing sector was put in a tight spot as buyers from across the world reportedly cancelled orders in large scale following the global outbreak of the pandemic.
However, a large chunk of the cancelled orders is said to have been reinstated by the brands and retailers subsequently.
