Underlining that ease of doing business is one aspect in which Bangladesh is not scoring very high while also highlighting the roles that Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce & Industries (FBCCI) and Better Bangladesh Foundation (BBF) can play as a link between investors and the Government, Planning Minister MA Mannan emphasised the need to do away with rules that could discourage investment.
The Minister came up with the observations while addressing a webinar titled ‘Attracting Foreign Investment in Bangladesh and Branding Bangladesh’, as the chief guest recently.
You (Bangladesh Investment Development Authority-BIDA) know about the unnecessary rules and so do I, maintained the Planning Minister addressing the event organised jointly by BIDA and BBF, while calling for doing away with such rules.
“Let us keep fewer rules so that business can be done faster,” underlined the Planning Minister while also urging the authorities concerned to provide a level playing field for everyone to do business.
BGMEA President Faruque Hassan, BIDA Executive Chairman Sirazul Islam, FBCCI President Md. Jashim Uddin, Chairman of Max Group and Director of FBCCI M. Alomgir also spoke on the occasion.
Japan’s Ambassador to Bangladesh Naoki Ito also addressed the webinar.
