In order to assess risks from disasters and climate change and help minimise the possible losses from those, the Planning Commission is all set to formulate an advance action plan for the economic zones.
As per media reports, to formulate the Business Continuity Plan (BCP), which will reportedly determine strategies to retain the speedy trend of production in the post disaster period, the Planning Commission and Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA) inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in capital Dhaka on 21 December.
Underlining that this is a new kind of initiative in Bangladesh while also expressing hope that private and other sectors would gradually get involved in the scheme, Planning Commission Senior Secretary, Asadul Islam said the action plan is being formulated to find a way to deal with the upcoming disasters.
