
As part of a 5-year long bilateral project initiated by the Dutch ministry of foreign affairs, Netherlands is cooperating with 10 readymade garment factories in Bangladesh to improvise quality products.
As part of the cooperative project, Dutch Centre for the Promotion of Imports from developing countries (CBI) has reportedly offered training on how to present the readymade garments to the foreign buyers after enhancing quality and in environment-friendly ways.
The developments/information pertaining to the same (the bilateral project) was recently made public by the Dutch foreign ministry via a press communiqué.
It may be mentioned here that the Centre for the Promotion of Imports from developing countries is a part of the Netherlands Enterprise Agency and are funded by the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Established in 1971CBI, which is currently said to be active in over 35 countries and in more than 25 sectors, contributes to sustainable and inclusive economic development in developing countries through the expansion of exports from these countries to Europe.
Some of the aides provided by CBI to developing nations reportedly include export coaching programmes to make SMEs in developing countries export market ready, provide technical support to business support organisations in developing countries to increase the added value for their exporting members, develop market information on potential export sectors in Europe, inform and influence policy makers and involve importers in the development and implementation of its programmes, etc.
