In a move that is expected to benefit around 3.19 lakh importers and exporters, especially those involved in the business of garment manufacturing, Bangladesh’s National Board of Revenue (NBR) has set a target of reducing the time for completing import and export procedures by 2 days and 1 day, respectively, by 2022.
The revenue board has set the target under the National Single Window (NSW) project being implemented with the support of Bangladesh Investment Climate Fund (BICF) of International Finance Corporation (IFC).
Project Director NSW Khondaker Muhammad Aminur Rahman and members of NBR revealed this at a workshop held in Habiganj recently, claimed media reports.
It may be mentioned here that on average, releasing imported goods currently takes 8 days, while it takes 5 days for completing export procedures at ports.
