It was the 2nd time when ministers of various states with their officers were sitting down with Centre Textile Ministry. Occasion was of the Annual Conference of State Textiles Minister in Delhi where almost 15 States’ textile or industry ministers out forward their demands and suggestions to promote their State and entire textile industry. Though the requirement of more funds for various schemes and textile parks was the core demand, but states like Karnataka, Telangana, Goa, Manipur and Madhya Pradesh also insisted on issues like need of spinning and garmenting units, training centers and institutes like Nift etc. Santosh Gangwar, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ministry of Textiles assured all the ministers that their demands will be considered and whatever best is possible, Central Government will do. It was disappointing to see that leading states in textile industry like Gujarat was not having its minister at the event. Most of the ministers were keen to attain focus on the handloom and weaver segment for their perspective states. Prior to that, Santosh Gangwar said that there are some tasks which were pending with textile ministry and now his ministry is working hard on those tasks. He also highlighted the points “Sabke Saath — Sabka Vikas”, “Skill Scale and Speed”, “Making Zero defect and Zero effect on environment” and “Make in India brand” as the guiding principles. Textile Secretary, S.K.Panda also gave an interesting presentation, highlighting the efforts of textile ministry and the various new schemes.
