Underlining that limited diversification of readymade garments and export products are challenges for export growth in the Middle Eastern countries, the President of the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI) stated that Middle Eastern market was still untapped for the Bangladeshi entrepreneurs.
As per reports, DCCI President Rizwan Rahman came up with this observation during his presentation at a recent webinar titled, ‘Shaping business landscape: economic cooperation of Middle East and Bangladesh’, organised jointly by the Ministry of Commerce and DCCI, and held on the 3rd day of Bangladesh Trade and Investment Summit 2021.
Meanwhile, Managing Director of Plummy Fashions Ltd., Md. Fazlul Haque, on his part, reportedly, stated that the GCC countries import clothing worth US $ 5.3 billion and UAE imports clothing worth US $ 2.5 billion every year, while adding Bangladesh’s share in it was less than 1 per cent.
So, the Middle Eastern market is more or less untapped for Bangladesh, maintained the Managing Director of Plummy Fashions Ltd., even as he invited the Middle Eastern countries to import more from Bangladesh.
