Haznah Md Hashim, the High Commissioner of Malaysia to Bangladesh, emphasised on Sunday the importance of enhancing ties between Bangladesh and Malaysia and looking into possible areas of cooperation.
The high commissioner emphasised the need of expanding bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Malaysia in a number of areas, including trade and investment, labour migration, industrial and technological cooperation, the development of human resources and skills, diplomatic relations, and cultural exchanges.
She also discussed the general state of relations between Malaysia and Bangladesh and offered shrewd advice on how to strengthen them going forward.
Bangladesh-Malaysia Relations: Moving towards Prosperity was the topic of a Country Lecture Series (CLS) held at the BIISS auditorium by the Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies (BIISS). As a special guest, Ambassador M. Riaz Hamidullah, the Additional Foreign Secretary, graced the occasion.
BIISS Chairman Ambassador AFM Gousal Azam Sarker chaired the session while BIISS Director General Maj Gen Iftekhar Anis delivered the welcome address. To get suggestions from the public on how to improve Bangladesh-Malaysia relations shortly, an open discussion session was arranged.
In 2013, the BIISS launched the Country Lecture Series as a flagship program. This lecture series have aimed to investigate the relationship between Bangladesh and a specific development partner country in order to expand on the possibilities and breadth of bilateral relationships, as well as to improve Bangladesh’s knowledge and comprehension of the partner countries.
This is the maiden session of the BIISS Country Lecture Series 2024 after a long gap due to COVID-19.
Participants in the CLS and open discussion session included senior officials from various ministries, ambassadors, high commissioners, former diplomats, senior military officials, members of the media, researchers, businesspeople, teachers, students from different universities, representatives from various think tanks, and international organizations.
