Fourth Logistics Infrastructure Development Working Committee (LIDWC) meeting was held recently at the Prime Minister’s Office in Dhaka.
This is as per reports, which underlined taking part in the same, experts called for simplifying the policy framework for the logistics sector to achieve national growth targets while also strengthening capacity in trade and investment so as to reduce the cost of business.

Abul Kasem Khan co-chaired the meeting even as BUILD Chairperson Nihad Kabir, addressed the meeting while BUILD CEO Ara Begum presented committee’s comprehensive plan of activities for the next year 2023-24.
Amongst others to address the meeting were representatives of Ministry of Industries, Ministry of Commerce, the Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry of Planning, Ministry of Rail, Road Transport and Highway Division, Bridge Division, Bangladesh Bank, BIDA, BEZA, DCCI, CCCI, BAFFA, BSCMS and IFC.
It may be mentioned here the apparel industry plays a pivotal role in Bangladesh’s economy, and logistics is a vital component that drives its success.
With a robust logistics infrastructure, the industry can efficiently manage the movement of raw materials, production processes, and finished goods while timely and reliable logistics ensure that garments are delivered to global markets promptly even if effective logistics also contribute to cost optimization while also enhancing the industry’s competitiveness.
