
In what can be termed not a very positive development for the industries in Bangladesh that are already reeling under power and gas crisis, Bangladesh looks set to cease liquefied natural gas (LNG) import from spot market in August that might intensify load shedding in Bangladesh.
Media reports maintained this adding, the move by Bangladesh comes amidst rising austerity drives amongst nations to save foreign exchange following a twin-shock from the Ukraine war-energy blockade and dollar dearth.
Reports further added even if overall electricity supply in Bangladesh has improved lately due to lower electricity consumption on account of Eid-ul-Azha holidays, the countrywide power outage, which was initiated in early July following the Government’s austerity measure coupled with less energy supplies to industries and power plants, might make a comeback soon to hit operations of the industries.
