Very recently the UN general body adopted a historic resolution to graduate Bangladesh to a developing nation from a least developed country (LDC), which demonstrates Bangladesh’s significant developing progress.
A major milestone for Bangladesh, the LDC graduation would come with its own share of challenges including for the country’s readymade garment sector as apparel export is expected to lose the preferential markets access that it currently enjoys as an LDC, which many feel could adversely impact the industry.
So, even as Bangladesh is all set to make the much-awaited transition, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has called upon businesses to prepare to face the challenges successfully.
“…we may face many challenges; but we’re always ready to face the challenges…I would like to ask the business community to take preparations properly,” reportedly, maintained the Prime Minister while inaugurating Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI)-arranged 16-day gala celebration, on occasion of Golden Jubilee of Bangladesh’s independence.
