Canadian import of knitted fabrics has dropped in 2020. According to Statistics Canada, the country declined 14.70 per cent in January-September ’20 period to import US $ 127.27 million worth of knitted fabrics.
China was the top shipper with US $ 41.44 million worth of knitted fabrics exports to Canada during the said period, marking 11.50 per cent drop on Y-o-Y basis.
Despite plummeting, China’s share to Canadian import value increased to 32.87 per cent in 2020 as against 30.40 per cent in 2019.
USA remained the 2nd top shipper with US $ 24.62 million worth of shipment of knitted fabrics to Canada and noted 21.50 per cent fall on yearly basis. South Korea, ranked 3rd, declined by 29.60 per cent in its respective exports to Canada!
On one hand, the top shippers in tally marked Y-o-Y decline, while some destinations upticked their knitted fabric exports to Canada in the same period.
Portugal, Italy, Turkey and Thailand were other destinations in top 10 tally, which increased their knitted exports in Jan.-Sep. ’20 period to Canada by 16 per cent, 22.80 per cent, 25.80 per cent and 15.30 per cent, respectively.
