Owned by the Ashok Piramal Group, Integra Apparels, a division of Morarjee Textiles Ltd., Bangalore is planning to venture into Bangladesh by establishing a manufacturing unit there. With a present turnover of Rs. 130 crore per annum, Integra is primarily producing woven shirts and bottoms – for men’s, ladies and children and is catering to high-end buyers namely Tom Tailor, Esprit, Dockers, Marc O’ Polo, Ben Sherman, Jlo by Jennifer Lopez, Flex Industries Japan, Iceberg, Newman to mention a few.
“We are looking at setting up our garmenting unit in Bangladesh with 3000 sewing machines. The country has very cheap labour as far as garment industry is concerned. On the other hand Bangalore is becoming scarcer with labour availability shrinking drastically day by day,” confides Santhosh Bandari Yadav, Deputy General Manager, Integra.
The company has two units in Bangalore with a combined capacity of 2100 sewing machines producing 3 million woven tops per annum along with a dedicated sampling line producing 2000 garments every month. The company has its design studio in Italy which generates both generic and customized designs for its customers. The company is also manufacturing garments for domestic brands like Louis Philippe and Van Heusen; however domestic business is just about 10% to 12%.
