India’s cotton yarn exports are back on upward trajectory, as per Ministry of Commerce and Industry data of Jan.-Mar. ’21 period.
The country shipped US $ 844.60 million worth of cotton yarns in Q1 ’21 as compared to US $ 746.56 million in Q1 ’20, marking 13.16 per cent Y-o-Y jump.
The rebounding export was an outcome of increasing shipment value to China, which imported US $ 234.46 million worth of cotton yarns from India in Q1 ’21, noting 67.97 per cent Y-o-Y surge.
However, cotton yarn shipment to Bangladesh declined by 3.96 per cent in the review period and export valued US $ 194 million in Q1 ’21, down from US $ 202 million a year earlier.
Amongst top 10 destinations, India witnessed Y-o-Y growth in countries such as Vietnam, Peru, South Korea, Colombia and Sri Lanka, while it fell in Turkey and Portugal.
