During a recent meeting at the BTMA Gulshan office, International Cotton Association (ICA) President Kim Hanna and Managing Director Bill Kingdon reaffirmed their commitment to exploring proposals from the Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA) to improve collaboration between the two organisations.
The meeting, attended by BTMA President Showkat Aziz Russell, Vice Presidents Md. Shamim Islam, Md. Abul Kalam, and Saleudh Zaman Khan, as well as Shafiqul Islam Sarker, Director of both BTMA and ICA, focused on cultivating a strong and mutually beneficial partnership.
The significance of maintaining contractual integrity between cotton vendors and purchasers was emphasised, with buyers required to give written confirmation within 24 hours, frequently by email. Furthermore, a suggestion to establish a joint BTMA-ICA testing laboratory in Bangladesh was made as a means of improving quality assurance.
Hanna and Kingdon emphasised their willingness to evaluate BTMA’s suggestions, emphasising a common desire to develop a beneficial cooperation. The discussion ended with a renewed feeling of teamwork and exciting ideas for both organisations in the future.
