Even as the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic has, reportedly, already begun, Bangladesh Government is all set to declare fresh stimuli package to keep the country’s economy afloat, claimed media reports, which cited a senior official of the Finance Ministry in this regard.
As per the concerned official, work has started already to implement the new incentive package and strategies are being redesigned to expand the facility to small and medium enterprises, export-oriented industries and services, cottage industry and rural economy.
For the small and medium industries and cottage sector, the Financial Institutions Division of the Ministry of Finance is working on a policy, the official, reportedly, underlined.
Even as Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had previously announced incentive packages of Taka 120,153 crore to protect those from coronavirus-induced recession, there is a plan to disburse loans of Taka 257,250 crore under the package, the concerned official said.
Meanwhile, experts and economists have welcomed the move and have underlined that stimulus package needs to be planned in such a way that the economy gets a fresh shot in the arm during the crisis.
