After the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) president resigned amid protests, the Government named an administrator to the organization.
The Commerce Ministry issued an order on Wednesday appointing Md Hafizur Rahman, a member of the Bangladesh Competition Commission and a former additional secretary, to lead the FBCCI.
The directive directed the recently appointed administrator to transfer leadership to the elected committee within 120 days and hold a free and impartial election for the FBCCI board.
Owing to illness, Mahbubul Alam, the FBCCI’s most recent president, resigned from office. In August 2023, he was chosen to serve as president for the year 2023–2025 on behalf of the Sammilito Oikko Parishad.
