The Government is dedicated to streamlining trade and commerce inside the nation, according to Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed, Advisor to the Interim Government on the Ministries of Finance and Commerce. He stressed the necessity of removing pointless barriers that impede corporate operations.
These were Dr. Salehuddin’s statements during a meeting on Wednesday at the Bangladesh Secretariat’s Finance Division Conference Room with a team from the American Chamber of Commerce and Industry (AmCham), which was led by its president, Syed Ershad Ahmed. The Commerce Ministry sent a press release outlining the topics discussed at the meeting.
The Commerce Adviser noted that throughout the previous 16 years, considerable fund shortages within banks have resulted from non-compliance with rules and regulations by relevant authorities. He emphasised the significance of re-establishing law and order by saying, “We’re working to reinstate discipline in every sector.”
The talks included a wide range of subjects with the goal of improving trade and commerce, such as streamlining corporate procedures, lowering tariffs, expanding shipping capabilities, and simplifying port procedures. The group also suggested creating cash incentives for digital payments in order to promote a cashless society and expressed concerns regarding the necessity of a deferred payment system in international trade.
Prominent figures attended the conference, including AmCham executive members Moinul Haque and Rubaba Dowla as well as Commerce Secretary Md. Selim Uddin.
