As cost of raw materials continues to keep rising thereby further increasing the pressure on the garment makers, Faruque Hassan, who is the President of the BGMEA, the apex garment makers’ body in Bangladesh, has called upon global buyers to be more sensitive over the issue of fixing apparel prices and urged them to consider the cost hike in cotton, yarn, other raw materials and in freight and fix just price in line with the demand of the suppliers.
…we need most the support from our buyers to keep alive in this adverse environment…, reportedly, maintained the BGMEA President addressing a recent press conference to brief the journalists on the outcomes of the BGMEA delegation’s recent visit to Belgium, Scotland and England — the BGMEA delegation recently participated at the COP26 in Scotland — even as he urged the garment makers to be more aware over the issue of fixing RMG price.
Further, replying to a question, Faruque, reportedly, underlined even if garment makers were now getting orders from the buyers, order volumes were less over the last two years due to the pandemic.
