The President of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) — FBCCI is the apex trade organisation in Bangladesh playing a pivotal role in consultative and advisory capacity, safeguarding the interest of the private sector — Md Jashim Uddin has lauded the readymade garment sector of Bangladesh for its compliance and safety standards.
This is as per reports, which added that addressing an event titled Leveraging lessons learned to move forward, organised by the FBCCI in the capital Dhaka recently, Jashim Uddin made this comment even as he opined compliance was important for both foreign and domestic customers while also highlighting the need to ensure fire-safety compliance for businesses manufacturing products for both the global and local markets.
Further appreciating the apparel industry, the FBCCI President reportedly underlined eight out of the top ten green factories globally were now located in Bangladesh even as the compliance standards of Bangladesh apparel industry are being appreciated globally, Jashim Uddin said ensuring compliance in both manufacturing and exporting was crucial for safeguarding workers’ lives and enabling businesses to survive potential fire accidents.
