Seems like ‘Made in USA’ movement is bolstering at a decent pace as the latest data released by OTEXA shows the country exported US $ 2.30 billion worth of garments in Jan.-May ’21 period.
During the 5-month period of 2021, USA marked 32.72 per cent year-over-year (Y-o-Y) surge.
Of too many product categories that USA shipped during the aforementioned period, the five that topped the list witnessed significant growth. These products are – M&B knit t-shirts, W&G slacks and shorts; M&B trousers and shorts; W&G knit t-shirts; and underwear.
Men’s & Boys’ knit t-shirts saw a shipment value of US $ 224.56 million in Jan.-May ’21 period, noting a Y-o-Y growth of 48.76 per cent and constituting around 10 per cent of the total apparel exports of USA.
Women’s & Girls’ slacks and shorts grew 53.90 per cent from the same period of 2020 and clocked US $ 156.30 million revenues. The third product in the list was Men’s & Boys’ trousers and shorts that valued US $ 128.45 million in export, growing 36.20 per cent on yearly note.
Women’s & Girls’ knit t-shirts shipped by the US manufacturers valued US $ 101.89 million and this category saw a whopping surge of 128 per cent from the shipment value of a year earlier.
On the other hand, underwear shipment increased by 50.22 per cent to US $ 99.37 million in Jan.-May ’21 period.
