In a statement from the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), after conclusion of the Apparel Summit, which was attended by retailers and experts, it is stated that global experts and apparel retailers are optimistic about the Bangladesh’s apparel sector and said that its target to export US $ 50 billion worth of garments by 2021 is achievable. Avedis Seferian, CEO of Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production (WRAP), said that he firmly believes the export target set by the BGMEA would be implemented by 2021. “The export target of $50-billion set by the BGMEA could be achieved by 2021,” said Arnold Marshal Zack, Professor of Harvard Law School and added that Bangladesh could be a top apparel destination in South-East Asia.
